What Happens if my cam chain is off center. Like the master link isn’t top dead center? Can I make it work or do I need to flip the motor over separate the case and adjust it?

It doesn’t matter where the master link is. It’s extremely important to have the position of the camshaft properly positioned in relation to the position of the pistons.
Even if you did have to take the cam chain off, why would you flip the motor and separate the cases? Just cycle the motor through until the link is at the top of the cam sprocket to change.
