I understand that the 447 and 5… cams both used similar timing chains however i had my crank rebuilt by Hugh’s and its a 256, matching camshaft to go with it. I counted the links on my old chain and i seem to be a few short of 106, is this just because i removed the “master link”? I just want to be sure before i go ordering a new chain because shipping is killer for us Canadians. My question in short is, can i buy the cam chain meant for 447 cams and run it on my 256 set up.

No, you will need a "256" cam chain. The chain pitch and length are different. Unless Hugh installed 447 sprockets on your cam and crank? But that wouldn't work with your original rear cam chain tensioner then, because it has a little sprocket on it made to fit the "256" chain pitch.
