All permissions appear fine on your account, but you've connected to the site from more IP addresses than almost any account I've ever seen, so I suspect you're right that it's something on the server side. We had a massive DDoS attack early Saturday morning that briefly took the site down. The server's DDoS protection system had to kick in to filter the attack. Prior to that, we'd have thousands of bots scraping the site and attempting to inject malicious code. Additionally, these spam accounts from Vietnam and other countries have become a major issue. My point is that things are getting locked down and mistakes happen, but we should be able to figure it out.Yes ... even switched browsers... I don't think it's on my end ... Wonder if administrators could check on forum end.
I am not going to fumble my way thru a incoherent explanation.... @Travis handled the way I handle electrical issues .... I call it strategy based diagnoses. In case it happens to any other members, was this an issue on the server side or client side? No need to post any private details, only curious about high-level explanation.
Same here. Bank cut off my access from my PC with the usual fake "unsupported browser" excuse. It worked for years, it is supported.the B$%$#^& are forcing an upgrade to latest, worst win ver. My bank (among others) is now blocking access to look at my credit info because the firefox web browser I'm using is no longer supported, AND I can't upgrade firefox any further without using a later version of windows. (the FOB is currently on win8 LOL) Same thing with Chrome Grr. Need to look into Linix/compatibility.
True, that is one side of it. But outdating a browser that gets weekly security updates because "it is not supported" is sadly just an excuse at this point.Gary, Similar issues with servers.. even Linux servers that this site (and most of the internet) runs on. All software relies on other software, and they only support older versions so far back. Eventually, they stop supporting old versions and no longer provide security updates. If you don't want your server or site to be hacked, you need to upgrade. Just like what they're doing with Windows 10. We can probably blame hackers, spammers, bots, and thieves. If they didn't exist, we wouldn't need security updates.
This thread is dead/over anyways ;^)Same here. Bank cut off my access from my PC with the usual fake "unsupported browser" excuse. It worked for years, it is supported.
You don't have to overwrite your Windblows with Linux, btw. You can install Linux next to it and you can choose which one you want at boot time.
Or you can install a virtual environment where you run Linux inside a window on Win. (I do both) Plenty of threads about it here, plenty of resources online. But feel free to start a new thread, let's not litter this one.
Yes, they update them frequently, but they aren't usually blocked until they are a few years old and pose an actual risk.True, that is one side of it. But outdating a browser that gets weekly security updates because "it is not supported" is sadly just an excuse at this point.
