Anyone got info on chrome shops that are doing well, need a bunch of parts done, the local guys do REAL nice work. TOO nice for old yamaha partz $$$$$ know what I mean?
I asked a few years back and a couple guys had mail order chrome shops they used for brackets, linkages nuts bolts etc.
Also have bigger parts that need to go back to being shiny.

I sold the owner a 1972 frame, so I've been in contact with him. I asked him about his chrome. He said it's not chrome. it's nickel-plating. Not DIY like Jim and I have done, but professional -- like done by the same outfits that do chrome-plating. He said it's way cheaper than chrome. Just a thought...

I had my fenders stripped of chrome at "Custom Chrome" in Brillion WI. Nice guy, good service. I was astonished at the price, not "good astonished" either. I did not shop around on that job. Call there about price. Seems the Fox valley has a few shops also. I would guess that most places want to see the part(s) before giving you an estimate/quote.

Nice.... what parts are nickel? Is the aluminum nickel plated? Wow, wow...

What prep work makes life easier for them (cheaper for me)? I have several pieces that have surface rust with perhaps some minor pitting. Should I leave it be and let them deal with that in the strip process?

I have a rear fender with some minor dents that I intend to address prior to shipping. What prep should I not do (potential to make things worse)?

Would you be kind enough to comment on what what prepping for the chromer on say, these brake linkage parts, would involve?
