Hello my fellow bikers,

My clutch cable snapped on my XS650 1974, replacement are available for 18$ on MikeXS but since I'm in Canada the lowest shipping cost is 43$. I was wondering if you guys had any online shop where I could get it for a lower price? I'm looking for them right now.

Right now, I'm leaning towards this, but unsure of quality : Amazon

I don’t know if you can get VENHILL cables in your area. They supply excellent high quality cables and fittings at good prices. I buy unfinished lengths and make up my own with soldered ends; it works out much cheaper.

I'm not suggesting to buy the cable from 650Direct, but you have https://xs650direct.com/ in Canada, who supply/share most of the products with MikesXS

DO NOT get a MikesXS clutch cable, you will be disappointed. The one they sell uses a skinnier wire than a better cable. You can see it here on the right .....

Cables Compared.jpg

The last one of theirs I used only lasted 5K miles before the end up at the lever broke off. I didn't think that was a very good life span for a cable and I contacted them about it. They told me, and I quote "A clutch cable is a wear item .....". Well duh, I know that, I just expected it to wear longer, lots longer, lol. I was pretty lucky I guess because there have been reports of their shit clutch cable breaking in as little as 400 miles. This is what turned me off to Mike's. It was obvious they were selling an inferior item and just didn't care. I'm sure they got it cheaper than a good heavy cable, so they're only in it for the money it seems.

As mentioned, get a Motion Pro, very well made (heavy inner wire) and reasonably priced.
