Hey guys,

I'm getting ready to reinstall my right side engine cover, but I'm not sure what this hole is supposed to have in it. The bike originally had an external cooler on it (similar to the Heiden unit) and there was a line coming out of this hole.

When I was cleaning the cover, I was digging out what I thought to be an old o-ring, but it was a more complicated piece (pic attached).

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to return the cover to stock functionality? Do I simply need to plug it??

Thanks for the help!!

When fitting an external oil cooler the gallery that leads to the motor from the side of the oil screen cavitiy is blocked with a grub screw or similar close to the filter screen cavity.
Check that the gallery from the side of the oil screen cavity to the side of the clutch case that fits to the engine is clear. Oil returns to the motor through this gallery.
Block off the hole in the second photo .

Do a search on external oil coolers, oil passages etc and you will understand more clearly what I am trying to say.

This makes great sense. I believe the passages are clear, but I suppose I should dig in a little more. It wouldn't hurt to remove the oil pump as well for inspection.

So I'll do the oil pump inspection, ensure clear galleys and then plug/seal the hole.

Thanks guys!
