Ebay valve removal tool for 20 bucks.... what can go wrong... :cautious:
Well first off, it doesn't work as delivered. It came with M6 bolts for an American cylinder with 1/4-20 threads... dipshits. :banghead:
Anyway, easy fix. Scrounged up some bolts that'll work.

Not sure what kinda mess I got goin' on yet. Valves both look to be recut. The exhaust looks just fine. Intake is shot though, pitting on the face cut.

Thankfully, there's no signs of pitting on the seats. I think at this point I'll just disassemble all 5 cylinder, make a spreadsheet and dimension everything on all of 'em and see where I'm at. Hopefully I can bit-n-piece 4 good cylinders together.... fingers crossed.

It was a year ago today I lost Tink. I still think about her. Sweet dreams, Tink.

We lost our Tuxedo cat Molly one year ago 12-21-24. She was 17 1/2, died in my arms. Sure do miss her.

Decided to just hold on to the last good piston... just 'cause.

Kept my original XS2 pistons too. Just because I enjoy looking at them. 🙂

Rusty crusty intake runner showed up. It'd actually be serviceable with a little cleaning. Kinda odd though... Continental didn't use seamless 4130... it's seamed mild steel I'd guess. No matter, I'll order some 4130 to make 4 new ones. 8" long, 1.5" dia, .035" wall. So 3 ft on the next AC Spruce order.

Lost in Space.

Amazon delivery just now. Ordered a couple pounds of ER80S-D2 tig rods. The ER80** is preferred over the 70 series for welding 4130 tubing... and I need to do a fair bit of practice before welding up a fuselage made up of .035" wall tubing. Here's the box.

And that's all I got, an undamaged box, a brochure and some shipping paper... and not a single frigging welding rod in sight. :cussing:
Replacement box of rods on the way in another two weeks. :banghead:

It's kinda moot at the moment. Look familiar? Yeah, surgery number four on the left foot! Anyone wanna take odds on it actually being fixed this time? :er:

Forgot about the funny part....
You get 2 choices with Amazon; refund or replace. Since I need 'em, I clicked replace. That automatically generated a return shipping label. I contacted the seller inquiring as to whether or not they actually want me to send back an empty box? Yes, indeed they do. Sue just went an dropped it off at the UPS Store.
Ya got me...

It gets better...

Today a box with my welding rods showed up..... really. There's rods in there.
And not 30 min after I opened the box, I got a message from Amazon saying that the company that sold me the rods also refunded me the full amount. WOW!!

Don't know if that was a mistake on their part, or their way of saying sorry? In either case, there's 2 lbs of "free" welding rod.
