Removing Decal
I am hoping to save this factory paint 84 tank, even though it's pretty far gone. This decal looks like a float on item and I wonder if there is any remover that will not take off the paint too. This is not a stick on vinyl graphic like what kids use on their dirt bikes.
This is my new project, pulled from a snow bank yesterday. (I like a challenge).

Well Here's the Answer
Marinated the inside of the tank with a fill of white vinegar for about 30 hours, rinsed, swirled it with dish soap (amazing what that dislodged), and then soaked it with some old metal rescue for a day and the inside is all better.
For the decal removal, I heated it up with a heat gun, scraped it off with a paint stir stick and WD40 took care of the remnant adhesive.

All Better
(ain't nobody needs no flamin' skulls)
The original paint is weathered enough that I think I will go directly to an SOS pad.

Please tell me you’re gonna keep those handlebars! And maybe some 6” over forks! 😄

Home made parts Rebars almost .. angle iron .. Brush painted .. I don't mind if it is not any show winners.
