DVA adaptor for testing pulse coils

Has anyone here used one of these to troubleshoot no spark problems? Are they helpful?

it's a simple rectifier with a high voltage capacitor, nothing fancy:

Helpful? No.
A voltmeter in 400VAC position is enough to troubleshoot. If no spark you don't really care about "peak voltage"
