I don’t use eBay anymore. Fees are crazy plus they make you use their shipping service. I think after it’s all said and done you’re luck to get 50-60% of tge amount you sold your item for. I stand ti be corrected on the actual % but last time I looked it was too much. Maybe there’s a work around yo save money but I didn’t look into it. Iirc selling into the US from Canada was a pita too.

I like Iconic Motorbikes

I think eBay still has a large audience. They also have protections for buyers and sellers. I still use it with confidence.
It’s my understanding that the “deminimus” rule has been terminated. That means eBay and Etsy will suffer as all those Chinese trinkets will no longer come across our border unchecked. I think eBay is going to get better for domestic users. JAT.

I completely agree. I buy more than I sell on eBay but have no issues either way. For selling I just accept the charges as a cost of doing business; I have never had them force me to use their shipping service. And sometimes, if you're looking for a decent used part or NOS, it's a good tool.

I use EBay and as stated above I view the fees as a cost of getting things out to a wider audience. Sometimes items “linger” but just when I think I’ll just toss something it sells. I’ll take $10-20 bucks all day long to dispose of something from the parts bins that I’ll never use, plus it rids me of all the Amazon boxes that my wife piles up.

That’s exactly right my brother from another mother! I have trouble throwing out what someone else may want to have.

I recently read that you can opt out of the Ebay shipping service. Apparently it is an option when you create your advertisement. They warn that this may effect your rating if you chose a different service and the item delivery is delayed a bit.

I've never opted in or out of their shipping service, but instead just decide what to do after the item sells.

Admittedly, I haven't sold anything on eBay for ~2 months, so maybe this is a recent change? And hell, when you use their shipping (USPS in the US), it takes forever anyway, so I don't think they could rationally give anyone any $hit for using, say, UPS.

eBay claims you get better rates for shipping but Thay also charge a % of the monies collected for postage so whatever “discount” you get, you’re paying it right back. eBay has been around a while and they know how to milk the $ out of you. I also keep an eye on my acct because of the $600 tax threshold. I don’t sell on eBay to make money, if I sell a few parts or whatever, I usually use that money to help fund the hobby.

Generally, they charge 10% of sale price plus 10% of shipping cost. It made it impractical for me to sell cheap, heavy items.

I don't know about the US. But here in the UK the buyer now pays the eBay fees, not the seller. I have found the selling price of something I list is often not really competitive any more as a result. To be competitive on selling price I have to lower my asking price to an unrealistic level.

The change from seller to buyer paying the eBay fees happened over here a few months ago. I haven't found selling to be as easy as it was before as a result.

I need to ebay or better yet invigorate the classies here by reducing the overflowing SOIR.
I USED TO keep stash of "Mad money" paypal funds from Motorcycle parts sold. Now Fleabay has stopped paypal balance funded purchases. It's not a huge deal, it pulls from checking into paypal but that kinda foils my toy fund thing. Honestly Amazon is usually hands down cheaper for any "new" products. I do still find old MC parts, other oddities, used machine tooling, and "good used" clothing on fleeceBay. Just bought three wool shirts in a large tall size, which is seldom stocked at local retailers and the older stuff tends to be a better torso fit, everything these days is "tent" fit for fatsos girth challenged individuals. ;^(.

Sounds like another US/UK difference on eBay. PayPal can still be used to pay or part pay for eBay purchases here. It's my preferred payment vehicle when buying on eBay.
US takes PayPal for purchases as well. As a seller direct deposit is made to your bank account, not PayPal.
