I have to wonder if after enough of these self driving cars are on the road if someone is going to figure out how the cause them to crash?
Real self-driving is far away. When AI reaches a higher level in the next century, maybe. In 2022 it takes more user involvement to drive a "self-driving" car than to drive a car, if you don't want to wreck. Tesla's head of AI just resigned, to go do something that's possible I suspect...

I mean when the boss claims he's going to Mars in 2022, unrealistic expectations is predictable.

Took a demo ride on a Zero with a friend...Bike has good power..179 miles range in the city 79 miles range on the hwy...Theres no clutch and no gears to shift..just like a scooter..but does have footpegs not floorboards..Its quiet..a slight whine is all you hear...Its a small bike and even at 5'9" with a 30" inseam...I felt like my lower body was in the fetal position...not good for anything longer than a demo ride..and not practical for the type of riding I want to do... with a $12k price tag..I dont think so...but it was cool anyway...

Have to wonder what the application for it will be with only two passengers and the max of 40 mile range. Guess getting someone from airport to the top of a building in the city center? And is that 40 mile range include total for getting back to airport after letting passengers off?

They must be going around the country doing demo days, I could’ve done that here a while back. I always liked their enduro styled model with the more upright seating position ( and no fetal position ! 😄 )

Paint your EV for extra miles/klm's????

https://phys.org/news/2018-08-solar-cells-chance-panels-roof.html

Australia's first commercial installation of printed solar cells, made using specialised semiconducting inks and printed using a conventional reel-to-reel printer...............The 200 square metre array was installed in just one day by a team of five people. No other energy solution is as lightweight, as quick to manufacture, or as easy to install on this scale.

Our research team manufactured the solar modules using standard printing techniques; in fact, the machine that we use typically makes wine labels. Each solar cell consists of several individual layers printed on top of each other, which are then connected in series to form a bank of cells. These cells are then connected in parallel to form a solar module.

Since 1996, we have progressed from making tiny, millimetre-sized solar cells to the first commercial installation. In the latest installation each module is ten metres long and sandwiched between two layers of recyclable plastic.

At the core of the technology are the specialised semiconducting polymer-based inks that we have developed. This group of materials has fundamentally altered our ability to build electronic devices; replacing hard, rigid, glass-like materials such as silicon with flexible inks and paints that can be printed or coated over vast areas at extremely low cost.

Less than $10 per SqM

First time I`ve clicked onto this thread. I`m not a fan of change at all but for some strange reason I really like this.

Siemens and ConnectDER bring cheap EV charging to the masses with super-simple installation.

ConnectDER makes a widget that taps directly into your home’s electrical meter and can be installed in seconds without the need to splurge for electrical service upgrades. Their partnership with Siemens promises an all-in-one charging solution for EVs that installs in less than 15 minutes.

ConnectDER is a Virginia-based company that has developed a solution so easy that all of us EV engineers are kicking ourselves for not thinking of it first. The ConnectDER collar sits between your home’s energy meter and the meter socket outside your home.

The collar provides a new tap into your home’s electric service line that doesn’t require going through your breaker panel. You can then plug almost anything into it — the first adopters have been solar installers. ConnectDER has been at this for nearly a decade with thousands of units already in service. Link.

Interesting it doesn't mention local utility's blessing. Not being a naysayer mind you, I'm certain that power co. has to approve and make a couple on-site visits to disconnect and reconnect/seal meter. Linked article doesn't even mention NEC.

Still an elegant solution if no road-blocks are thrown up.

Now if they would modify it to go between the mains and the meter..................

I assume big-time lawsuits are imminent in the two fatalities noted.

For the rest of us, as a Life Member , perhaps The AMA should get on this and bring some pressure on Tesla (they are terribly inept at such things, so I'm not holding my breath) - just venting anger at the callous disregard @tesla
