So I have a 79 XS650 I just got done putting a 706 cruising image kit in it stock carburetors jetted for airpods with aftermarket shorties baby glass pack mufflers nothing but nothing real fancy with an aftermarket key switch I've got no kill switch whatsoever I am running a PC Brothers harness combined with a Daddy g rich chopper you know it's kick only harness with the points ignition and I've done the nylon screw mod but even if I like unplugged my key switch I've still got juice going to everything my tail light my points everything's got power unless it's unless I unhook the battery and I can't figure out why

Also how hard is it to set timeing wen useing a xscharge e advance set up to con vert from points to an electronic ignition

Id check impedance (with battery unhooked) from my + bat lead to the fuse + bus lead with the key in the off position.
 
Ok so wat should i hope to c n wat is thisvtelling me
Well it should read open or ∞ with the key in the off position. If it reads 0Ω or something close to that you have your key hooked up wrong. With the key in the on position it should read somewhere around 0Ω.
 
This is what my switch looks like it's got the head steering headlock and then it's got the base plate and it's got the six little dip things to make your contacts
