this is actually for a rare GR650 that i'm finishing up but may be of interest. it's usually tricky to hang electric components on any custom build with a total rewire.

no easy place to hide the battery this time so may as well flaunt it. my stepson tacked this together out of free used laptop cells with a special spot welder for the nickel strips, and hot melt glue between cells. it weighs just over 2lbs and is nominally about 16V max and 10AH (a tad below new cell rating). the banks of 4 cells were initially balance charged and it's holding at 15.2V. the nickel strips take solder very well for the for the main +/ - terminal ring connecters, but are very flimsy . bent those down and wrapped whole unit with gorilla tape. battery was zip tied to aluminum angle bracket. this bike is a factory PMA with electric start only- no kicker...

also mounted the starter solenoid and new reg/rec on the same bracket. the ignitor CDI box (not pictured) will be mounted forward under the head tube to feed the coils.
