Looking to obtain an engine stand in order to do some work before riding season starts. Figured I’d ask here to see if anyone is willing to part with / sell an unused stand before I just buy a brand new one. Thanks!

Sorry, I should’ve clarified that in the original post. Looking for a basic workbench stand. Can be homemade, as long as it works.

Hi there,
I have an engine stand specifically for yamaha xs650 early motors 653 cc
I had a 1972 xs2 yamaha motor mounted in it for a long time in my closet.
Not super heavy but also not light.
It would require a large box in order to ship it somewhere.
The motor bolts into the stand thru the motor mount hookups.
Solid steel, industrial Black powder coating on it.
The bottom of the motor stand has a couple of rails with multiple mounting holes so you can anchor it down.where ever you want.
I paid a guy to custom design it, then to build it for me. I actually had him make me 3 stands.
I only have one left.
The shipping cost to ship it may be a deal breaker for anyone.
Considering what I paid for it, then adding a shipping cost on it,
In today's economy, maybe $125 which includes the shipping cost (usa domestic) isnt unreasonable or ridiculous. when you need such a stand to secure the motor while working on it.
You can use the nuts and bolts from the bikes motor mounts to mount the engine in the stand.
The long bolt for the bottom engine mount, the front mount bolt and the rear mount bolt secures the motor in the stand nicely.
Im in Arizona, where would the stand need to be shipped to?
Let me know if this is something you think you want to buy my friend.
Thanks Jonathan

TC Brothers sell this stand...$40. (look familiar?-see above link) I have bought parts from these guys...all good and easy to deal with.

Jonathan,

Thank you very much for the reply. It sounds like an awesome engine stand, but unfortunately probably a little more expensive than I was looking to spend at this point. Thank you again though!

Winged wheel,

I definitely saw the plans to make your own combing through the forums before. The only issue with that route is you need to have a welder or access to one. Unfortunately that’s not an option for me currently. Nuts and bolts could be an option, but figured I’d ask here before I took that approach.

Additionally, the stand you posted the link for is exactly what I’d be looking for. Just was looking to see if anyone wanted to part with a used one rather than me buying a brand new one.

I don't know, That looks kinda Kmart.
Wow it needs to be assembled too.
The motor is a couple hundy pounds.
Thats not the kind of motor stand I have.
I dont know if "Big worm" still visits this site, his little brother "Little worm" designed and fabricated the stand for me in arizona a few years ago.
By the way, that side cover is chromed, not Polished aluminum.
These are the best pics I have at the moment.
Clearly a different design. the stand is 1 solid piece of nearly indestructible Pittsburgh steel.
Even with a sledge hammer,
Inpatient man I bet would do more damage to themselves than the motor stand if beat with hammer. lol
When the top end of the motor is assembled, you have to pay attention to the balance of the motor cuz Id say it could tip over if not secured in a nice boxed steel design..
Ill build the motor in the stand. Some people only want a stand to store the motor in.

Well what can you do? Maybe some trading? some, none or little cash too.
You can evaluate the quality and preferences you need.
The bottom of the stand is perpendicular to the motor to prevent it from sliding like a skate on a slick garage floor.
$125 included the shipping which could be as much as $40 dollars ???
So that makes it an $85 stand plus $40 shipping.
Im in Arizona, shipping distances may help or hurt us in making a big beautiful deal together.
I like comic books, sports cards, star wars collectables, and other items and of course some motor parts that you see I need to finish building
There isnt any patents or copyrights I know of on the motor stand I have.
:) scobman

Any pics of the TC brothers stand holding up a motor?
The stand I have will last a lifetime.

Anybody have an interest in the bottom end motor see in my pics?
Its vin S650007122 Just needs the top end and to be finished.
