Sold / Found / Inactive - Exhaust Pipe for 1974 through 1978 Honda XL350

Sorry, guys, I know this is an XS650 site, but I don't want to join 5,000 other sites to find what I need ( okay, I'm exaggerating a bit!!) And, most of us own and play with several different makes.

So, with that said, I have a 1974 Honda XL350 that I bought as a basket case, and I need an exhaust for it. I would really prefer the 1976 - 1978 pipe, but will also take the 1974-1975 pipe in the interim to get it running and riding.

Thank you. Yes, I have checked with CMSNL and eBay. There are a couple on eBay right now, but the prices are exorbitant IMO.

@JonW, cool bike that was/maybe still is well supported by the aftermarket. Pics maybe? I assume you are aware of sites like XLint Performance, VFT.org, Thumper Talk, etc, all of which are potential sources for pipes.

Yes, the prices on CMSNL are also ridiculously high, but I guess that is due to availability. It is almost temping to suggest fabricating something resembling the stock later type exhaust

Thanks for those websites. I recently became a member of Thumper Talk and apparently have visited XLint Performance in the semi-recent past and VFT.org, which I had forgotten about. I can't say that Thumper Talk is for me from what I have seen so far. I will keep an eye on the eBay listings and see what comes about between this site, the Honda SOHC/4's forum, and BritBike.

Yes, here it is as it currently stands. I have added the correct handlebars and a front fender and tank from a 1975 model. I also have the matching black rear fender to the front, just not installed yet. I have also purchased a new seat cover from XL Motorcycle Parts.com (https://www.xlmotorcycleparts.com/), as well as various bits of hardware from Partzilla and CMSNL.

Thank you, Jim, but they don't have the exhaust pipe, unfortunately.

Just thinking out loud here.... could a local exhaust shop bend up a pipe? Might not follow the factory bend curves but at least it would be a pipe.

I am not aware of any local shops that could or would do that. It's a small town, and I doubt it, but who knows? This isn't unobtanium, so I will give it a bit before resorting to that. Thanks, though, for the added thing to think about.

Agree. Throw the engine in the frame, throw that in your truck and take it to a muffler shop. I'm guessin' that'd be cheaper than the Ebay pirates.

I imagine the preferred option is probably to find an OEM or aftermarket pipe for the right price. Failing that and as @arcticXS suggested, the fallback might be to fabricate an exhaust system using mandrel bends that are readily available online. If welding and/or fabricating yourself is not possible, maybe you know someone who does/can?

I would also be looking to find bike salvage yards that may have what you are looking for.

Keen on watching this project as the early single-port XL's are of interest!
