1980 xs650 - Doing the first oil change since I bought it.
Oil does not look bad but I want to change it
I have searched the forum but I still have some questions.
I have a bike lift so that should help since I have to check sump filter.
So first question - I live in Florida and run rotella t4 in my honda cb 750
I was thinking about using the valvoline 20 -50 delvic in this instead. - any thoughts?
Also from what I understand I have to undo to 27mm drain bolts then remove sump pan - check and clean or replace both filters - new sump gasket and anneal or replace drain bolt crush washers - and fill with 2.5 liters of oil.
Another question - saw online another guy leave drain bolts in and removes sump pan with drain bolts in - other than being messier is this a bad idea?
Any other advice or threads would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Damon

You’re right about that being the messier way to go. You need to check those drain washers anyway. Everything else you mentioned sounds correct. If your sump filter is torn there’s a thread about patching it with JB weld. Might even be a good idea to coat it even if it’s not torn for future peace of mind.
