I found this forum at random but glad I did !!
About 7 months ago, I had to sell my XVS650 / V-star 650 to pay rent.
Now on "Wang Chow" / random asian manufacturer MOPED and HAVE a Motofino 150 motorcycle but needs a throttle cable, ENTIRE exhaust system, and an air filter. Did 60 mph on a test drive before buying it.
The XS650 I had was a "NOT special" 78 or 79. Had points, not a magnetic pickup.
Mostly stock. Had a really tall "queen" on the king and queen seat, with a backrest.
Exhaust was curved down and slightly outside at the back.
I FREAKING LOVED THAT BIKE !!!
Got it as a LITERALLY "basket case". Original owner dropped it on the left side, and then removed almost EVERYTHING except the engine.
Found out later when racing a new Ninja 300 that the " drop on the left side" broke 1 of the 2 " arms" on the right side of the engine of the " shift shaft".
Paid $75 for the 1 owner bike, and cost me $120 for the replacement and installation of the shift shaft assembly and a clutch cable with only 4 strands not broken.
Heading east out of Colorado Springs on the highway I was hitting (speedometer reading) 115 mph before getting the "death wobbles" from the forks.
Other than the points, I loved that bike.
