Greetings-

New here. I'm looking to see if anyone has a 3D model of a '77-ish 650 frame.

I'm machinist by trade, and I use Fusion360 a lot in my free time. I plan to buy a hardtail kit from TCBros, and they reccomend that you have the engine installed when cutting the frame to help prevent warping. My engine is currently in pieces for a rebuild, so I want to try to design something that can take its place that will tie into all the stock mounting points and just bolt right in. I can get a chunk of aluminum and toss it in the CNC mill once I get a design no problem. That way I have a lightweight "stand-in" that I can use instead of heaving the engine in and out (got 2 blown discs in my back and want to avoid lifting the engine any more than I have to.)

I took a bunch of measurements of the mounting points, and in theory I could make a design, but I much prefer to have the "mating part" (in this case the frame) as a solid model first if I have the option, since I'm not all that confident my measurements are accurate.

Also, I'm just too damn cheap to buy a gutted engine hahahahaha.

Thanks all!

It will save you a PILE of time n money to find a junk motor, empty it out and use it to jig the frame.
I've done it and think you can get a shell down under 70 lbs.

If you leave the gearbox output shaft in you can put a sprocket on it. Makes lining up the rear sprocket a lot easier. Take out all of the barrel studs and cut a screw driver slot the tops of the two of them. Put the slotted studs in to help align the top end. You can then take the top end shell cases off and on with the bottom end in the frame. Then you can assemble/ disassemble the shell in the frame to the level you need.
