Freeing Stuck Throttle Slides: Recommendations

Hello,

I have a couple of carburetors that were sitting for years, and the throttle valve/slides are stuck in the carburetor bores. Both in the fully closed position. I just pulled one of the carbs from the carb dip after soaking for 2.5 weeks, and no joy. Does anyone have a good method of doing this without warping the carb body, etc.?

On one set for a Kawasaki I used some DIY chemical ( maybe diesel acetone Mixture please google )
hot air gun and it still took long time. . But it came loose.
Heating and trying let it sit with chemical soaking on it again. took awhile I used motor oil also.
+ Hot Air.

I have a heat gun and gave it a bit of a go, but didn't get too crazy yet.

My idea: do a soak in the Cheapest solvent available… gasoline.

The rubber parts should be quite compatible with fuel costs about $4 per gallon

Also: acetone is awesome at eating varnish, the rubber might not like it though

I have a heat gun and gave it a bit of a go, but didn't get too crazy yet.

Heat in combination with a penetrating solvent/oil is the trick, IMO

Acetone will soften and swell some rubbers ( Carb boots for example) . The effect is short lived though and they soon shrink back to former size and hardness.
Another vote for heat .

+whatever heat, if it's varnish that stuck em. Shape a hardwood wedge to fit under the slide start tapping it in. reheat, repeat.
IF they got wet or f god forbid mouse piss. all bets are off. Like steel/rust oxidised aluminum alloy etc is larger than the original metal. A corroded slide may be game over. I bought a Ducati that had mice living in the intakes, the carbs were FUBAR, in spite of using all my gggGary Juju.

Never used one but this was my first thought. Maybe with something like simple green?

Maybe. I use this cleaner from sharper tech. Wow getting expensive but it last a long time 8 onto a gallon of water, and works well and safe

Thanks for the latest tips! Of the many, many tools that I have, I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner; maybe in the near future, as it has crossed my mind before. I spent some time on the carb today, with thin oil and heat, several cycles of it. No budge. It is now submerged in gasoline. I will attack it again tomorrow,

Wow, you aren't kidding! If and when I do get an ultrasonic cleaner, I will give this a try.

I use the same stuff. It really works well.
*edit. I use their SC20 product which is 55/gallon
