Front and rear axle size question

I'm putting together a 1979 for a buddy of mine that bought it for 500 with alot of stuff missing and some bent rims. I found some rims on craigslist for a 1980 xs650 and I was wondering if the axles on the 79 would fit a 80 model rims. Its going on a hardtail frame and no front fender so as long as the axles fit and there's clearance on the front forks I can make a bracket for the rear brake caliper. It would also brake better with it than the rear drum brake. Thanks in advance.

650s use same diameter axle, and those are compatible

And for those who want to know if this wheel works on that bike, can't tell ya that, but here's a big-ass list of axle sizes. I think this link goes to the front listing, and there's a rear listing as well.

That list has some mistakes. Try finding an XS650 on that list. You will find a 74 TX650 under 17 mm front but no XS650. On the rear axle it list the 74 TX 650 on both the 20 mm and 25 mm list.
I don't trust such a list.
