Hey all I was looking at where the speedo housing meets the fork and its barely touching. Am I missing some spacer or something. The rotor and caliper line up fine on the right side. Is there supposed to be that gap or is something wrong here? Could it be a bent fork?

It's a 78. Special. But the left fork has bolt holes for another caliper. Not sure if the forks were all the same and didn't use those holes or some p.o. just put them in there.

Yes, you may have a bent fork. Normally, the hole through the end of the axle is fully visible and the fork is closer to the speedo drive .....

Loosen the axle clamp and the pinch bolts on that fork tube, then rotate it around in the trees and see if the bottom of the fork swings in and out.

All 35mm fork XS650's have the mounting locations for dual disc, but not all XS's were equipped with the left caliper/rotor.
