Link to video, I cleaned and rebuilt the carbs on my 78 xs650, mikuni bs38's. I have the infamous pods that I know aren't favored here but I didn't find out until after I bought them. I accounted for the covering of the holes in the bell but cutting away this part of the gasket like so.

In the video the choke was on, it sounded like it was idling and then the rpms ramped way up. Then when I restarted it the bike was running until the end of the video, however after I cut off the video it died and wouldn't kick back over. Did it flood? Do I need to adjust the air fuel? Any other advice? This bike hasn't been running in god knows how long and I'm no mechanic so I'm proud that I've gotten this far.

If it was me I would let it idle a bit longer if possible
Not touching the throttle ..but not overheat ..can shut and after a while do it again
If it stalls on it again -- it can take a while before things settle float valves start moving
In spring it can take 2 tanks before it settles
If there is a possibility to shut off fuel it can help close and open when staring to stumble
Can also tap gently on the outside of the float bowls with a screwdriver handle shaking the float valves

All in all seems ignition is right .. I believe it will wake up
Compression can get better also
