GSXS650R Abomination special

Good morning and quick hello/goodbye to anyone still interested in this build. I was over in Singapore as I work "snagging" the cabin interiors of Cruise ships and yachts but work stopped for sea trials so I'm here for 5 days and then away for 2 weeks.
Spoke to engineer regarding frame mounts..
Engineer "I've not touched the frame yet because I think we should hard mount and use a 270 rephased crank"
Me " Really? you'll farm that engine out then as you don't build engines do you? absolutely NOT!
My remit is STOCK engine, in an aluminium frame with stock feel, stock sound, one solid mount and a set of rubber based mounts and head steadies"
Engineer "collect your frame when you get back"
So now I'm building up a "shell engine" for now as it saves lugging a built engine in and out, work out mounting and positioning and do the job myself then get an engineers report. I'll stop here as I'll explain the pillow block mounts and adaptions later. Thanks for reading (if you did 👍)

I suspect the engineer knows exactly why he said what he said.

(Retired mechanical engineer, machinery technical authority).

Thanks for responding, and yes he is a good engineer and doesn't want to be responsible for the demise of a frame or me, he doesn't build engines but of course he understands the radial issues etc. I'll build it up and get the report.

These pictures are nothing special but show the level of tilt on the engine compared to the previous pictures, this is raising the drivetrain a bit so I'll come back a bit. Fuel tank underside shows fuel outlet just above where the carb body would start, there's nothing forcing me to use this tank but it's already cut and due for a new base and fuel outlet to external fuel pump. The lower rear mount is the one that requires most thought as it will somehow be disguised from rear and right side, I'm using modeling clay and plywood block to shape a mount.
And that's it for now people, it's slow going I know.

Hello forum members.
Just returned so no pictures as frame in workshop, the head steady set up is still being worked out using kart shocks in opposing directions and the subsequent mounting points.
If I give up (expenses etc) and put the engine in a Bandit frame (as has been suggested) it'll defeat the objective of an XS650 in a relatively light frame. I'm sure the xs650 frame is fairly weighty but the Bandit was built for a Cleveland V8, it just wouldn't be fair on the happy little twin! Cheers

Welcome back. Give up? I wish I could find that picture of xs in sportbike frame. Pretty recent though. Maybe a Fiat?

I'll tell you this, the xs motor sits beautifully in that 1990 long stroke frame (purely an opinion) if I say "F**" this" and give up someone somewhere will hopefully make it work, and the better man/woman wins a beer because it'll be worth it.

Your build is a bit 'out there' but interesting never the less. I hope it continues to completion.

Okay forum
Rebuilt stock xs650;motor has gone to the workshop along with the ability to fire it up in the gsxr frame, all that remains is to get the head steady set up and working as up to now the engineer only had a "shell" engine and no noise and vibration. I brought said shell engine back home and it crawled into a "Blandit" frame! just for fun you understand 😁 As I was saying, 26kg with subframe and you gain.... nothing, would it handle better? It's steel obviously but I think a high performance xs would be the only advantage with this Tiger Tank of a frame.ps
It will sit nearly an inch lower if mounting points are redrilled. Nothing serious, just to have a look.
