These 447 crankcases came back from vapour blasting, the patina on that mating surface is the same on the other side, I'm not going to pick them out but I'm deciding what gasket type to use if I build another spare motor.
I think the short hand is "WTF", however I'm cutting this BMW 650 engine mount to fit at the front, I've got a few of these BMW mounts and will attempt a weird set up to rear. Good thing is these mounts/bash plates are strong and not incredibly heavy. Ugly? well yeah but so am I

Good morning to the forum, have been working away and just got back so thought I'd do a "dear diary". While away purchased shipping container and had it dropped in behind garage to mop up surplus parts, the "Blandit 650" and the "Slingshit 650" are going in there until I retire in November and can devote enough time to them.
In the meantime... what is it with these f##@n XS650's that they become so addictive?
Yep, bought it from a mate who had a TX650 74 and this 73 frame, he chose to use the 74 (forgotten why) I shoved the tank on which came off a hardtail 1200 just for a look
Right! everyone who can be bothered to follow the thread! I've now got the time to get on with the previous projects a) gsxr framed xs (expensive and stalled due to work and head steady issues)
B) Bandit 600 framed xs (frame swapped to gsf1200 , lower frame mounting points better placed but engine needs a better space towards front so frame to be cut
c) ehh.... Triumph T150v hardtail frame, barn find bought for next to nothing, no Trumpets were hurt.
Frame lower bosses skimmed and "9pm to 12 noon" notches in lower frame. xs650 motor can not have a starter motor and lower crankcase has to welded shut. In the picture the engine drops another 2.5mm so it's a fit however the Triumph head steady mount may have to be removed to clear the rear top breather as it fouls.
3 projects and 3 years to complete
