Hi,
I am a New-be to the forum, and have bought a Yamaha 650 Heritage recently.
Looking for some advice on wanting some resistance on the new to me 1982 XS650S hand throttle control, it appears to be really really free in cable movement along with carb linkage, but yet has spring related feeling on return to idle? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thanks,

Welcome to the forum!!
If the bike is stock with BS34 carbs, there's two return springs, one on each carb. Maybe one is missing/broke/incorrectly installed.

Disconnect cable from throttle arm (lift arm, remove cable from ferrule and the pill will slide right out)
Now operate throttle shaft, does it move smoothly, snap back to the idle position when released?

Very good suggestion - thank you very much.
