I’m having issues with my headlight. I purchased two headlights from eBay and Mike’s XS, but neither works when plugged in. Upon further inspection, I removed the electrical tape from the three wires at the headlight plug and noticed that two grounds are spliced together—one from the headlight plug and the other coming from a wire loom. There’s also an awful solder job on a yellow spade connector. Any thoughts on this? Is this the most likely culprit as to why my headlights won't even turn on? 😕

Looks like someone replaced the headlamp connector at some point .... the black should be the grd circuit and the green and the yellow should be power feed to hi and low been.
Wires twisted together is not a good mechanical connection .... proper connectors should be used.
Looks like a choice was made to tap into the grd circuit via the twisted wire connection
Edit : You need to verify orientation of wires to headlamp.

You know? the headlight will only light when
A: the engine is running
B: the charging system is actually charging.
I know. Headlight did work when I bought the bike. Had issues with the charging system a few months ago where it would barely charge above 10v @3000rpms. After replacing brushes and polishing the rotor, I'm getting charge above 13v. I checked the fuses and they're all fine.
