my original post (post #1 of this thread)
details that I had
#1--straight header pipes,
#2--with 4 inch baffles
#3--no MUFFLERS
now, I removed the baffles, added slip on mufflers
which in turn lengthened the pipes
and all seems to be well
throttle is quick, carbs are responsive
no spitting or backfiring
again
all seems well!
