Dear XS650 buddies:

Next summer my riding pal and I are going to ride from my place in rural SW Ontario to Thunder Bay and on to other spots in northern Ontario. I will be on my ‘83 BMW R100RS and he will be riding his big H-D Road King Ultra….Brontosaurus. His name is Walter and he is a retired banker with a wicked sense of humour and he is a close friend.

Last summer we rode to Newfoundland and back (8000 km / 5000 miles) and had a great time. I always ride with music in my ear via a Scala PackTalk Bold “Bluetoothed” from my iPhone - and so I have a playlist. The problem is that my playlist is getting a tad too familiar and while I will recycle many of the songs, I need some new ones.

So - my request to you is - please help me to build next summer’s playlist by telling me your favourite riding/driving song.

I will start with my favourite riding song which is “End of the Line” by the Travelling Wilburys. Check it out - it’s perfect for riders of “a certain age” - like most of us.

…and while I’m at it, please allow me to add my favourite biker video (it’s short). This is called “The Dream Rangers” and it is actually a commercial for a bank in Taiwan. It is based on 5 or 6 real people who rode around that island nation at an elderly age. While I don’t speak Mandarin (there are subtitles), the message resonates all the way through my soul.

Frankly, when I am feeling low, I watch this little video, and I feel better. Check it out!

Bob Dylon's sound track from Pat Garret and Billy the Kid movie, staring James Coburn and Chris Kristoffison with Dylon in the movie.

Has the famous "Knocking on heavens door" track.

Loved the movie, just kool

Yeah, Skull - that little video really gets me every time. There is a whole history to that commercial, which is fascinating. I grabbed the AI summary of the history and background of the commercial and have attached it below.

Seems odd to be so moved by a commercial for a bank. Usually, banks are just a bunch of soulless a-holes who promise you great personalized customer attention then bury you in service charges and incompetent investment advice.

Lost me Pete???

Link is to Utube, the only place where I have accessed the album. No idea how you have related it to some bank.

It is the album, in sure there is spotfy it some other source to be able to download if it was your cup of tea

The Dream Rangers video is a commercial for a Taiwanese bank.

What dream rangers?? I click on the link and all I get is the album😵‍💫

I have no idea what your referencing

Here again, is the link to the Dream Rangers bank commercial video....

Perhaps try typing "TC Bank Commercial Dream Rangers" into your YouTube search window. I wonder if it cannot be displayed in Australia for some legal reason. It plays just fine here in the Great White North!

Pete

PS: I know there is some sort of music album of the same name - but it has no relationship to the TC Bank commercial.

I get it now. Lol

I got confused, (how old am I), between my post being referenced and the reference to the bank video that you posted.

Your saying everything I have posted, made tutorials, links to information since 2009, the link to larkin poe is the only thing you agree with.

Think it says more about you.
😘
You probably should have taken my comment in the lighthearted way it was intended but you couldn't help yourself. Pathetic. ❄️
