HELP with Project XS650 Ignition

Newbie here, looking for assistance with a project XS650 ignition system. Here are the particulars:

Engine: TX650, 1972/1973 (engine number is S650-214100)
Ignition coil: Dual output MP08. It bench tests OK using passive testing (multi meter)
Plugs: NGK BPR7ES (new)
no starter - kick start only
12 Vdc battery - fully charged

Flywheel, stator, voltage regulator (2 wire) and Ignition module are of unknown brand.

Problem: No spark. Previous owner had disassembled the wiring and really botched it up trying to repair. a lot of unknowns here. Any help would be appreciated as I can't seem to find anything that matches these parts, specifically the wiring diagrams (i.e 2-wire voltage regulator)

Hopefully someone on here that recognizes the components will chime in?!

It is a PMA conversion with a crank trigger in evidence, but doesn't look like a current Vape system, maybe an older one? But that doesn't really dovetail with the Honda MP08 coil?

And the crank trigger is not a TCI either. What do you have underneath the points and advance covers?
 
Thank you, Wagner73, I very much appreciate your reply. I found out that this is an older model of a Hughs Handbuilt PMA/CDI system. You are correct about the coil, it is not for this system and I was able to find the coil that matches the system (buried deep in a box at the previous owners garage). I swapped out the coil, replaced the hi tension leads and spark plug caps, but still didn't have spark.
It was a head-scratcher, but after I identified the system, I was able to source a wiring diagram and really scrutinized this and carried out the necessary wiring repairs and, like magic, I now have spark.

One thing I want to mention for anyone trying to troubleshoot a no spark condition with a Hughs system: The CDI is energized from the stator coils, not a battery. DO NOT WIRE THE CDI TO A +12vdc SOURCE!!! The Hughs handbuilt wiring diagram is crystal clear and needs to be followed (the black wire and the black/red wire go to chassis ground!!! You also need a way to ground the black/white wire when you want to shut it down, via kill switch or key switch, that is what the relay is for, but it does NOT KILL the power supply, it simply provided a ground reference to the black/white wire from the CDI to command the spark arrest.

Just my two cents to add..........

Great, glad you're getting it sorted! I shoulda thought about a HHB, but just drew a blank.
