Dropping in to say hello. I know some of you here and hope to be a somewhat positive addition to the site.
I have an '83 H.S. Special that I've somewhat 'Standardized' over the last couple of years. Love the old style Trumps but not the problems, so the xs650 is the best of both worlds. I'll try to select and post a pic.

Welcome! I've been here about a week, and really like it. It's sort of neat to see someone "standardizing" a a Special, rather than the reverse. Just goes to show how very flexible our old Yammies really are.

How long are those rear shocks?

@ Travis,
IIRC, those rear shocks are 11.5 inches, eye to eye. No problem on rubbing, though my riding is one up.
It does get rid of the fender to tire gap that you get with the stockers and gives ya a slammed rear look.

My Honey has a bulb garden in the front yard, different flowers popping up all summer long.
That's sky in the background, overcast ridgetop sky.
