1973 seat strap I've been watching. It seems like the seller has made a point of not showing any part of the clamps or rivets that are actually exposed when installed.

If you want to go this route, I have the clamps (and I owe you) as well as alternative ideas/solutions for the rivets and strap.

thnx! I have the strap w hardware.

I'm not happy with the front brake line. the way it passes the fork tube is cramped either through OR below the fender bracket Ordered a set with several end bends, will see if I can get that one into a smooth route.

It's not super-ideal, but here's how I did mine on the Superior RustBucket. At least it smoothly fits through the fender bracket.

Above is my complete primer on making your own lines and buying the tubing and fittings.

While rooting around for (something else I've lost track of) I found I HAVE a 90CM brake line with one bent, one straight end. Looks like it will fit well.
Pretty sure I'm going to be installing that very soon.
PS on the too long banjo bolt; chucked the head in the lathe a drill bit in the tailstock and easily shortened it to fit the caliper without extra or thick washers.
This is on order got the 100 but the 90 might be a better length.

Tank on and took it around the block. Running good!

Lots to do yet. But hey can be ridden
I noticed you did not route the brake line through the guide/holder that is part of the tach/speedo mount. On the 2 XS2s I have done I have. You also are not using the holder that bolts to the bottom tree.

You also didn't use the holder on the fork leg. I did on mine.

As far as the angle and looks of the fitting and line at the caliper I'm not totally happy with them. But they work. I was concerned when I did my original XS2 4-5 years ago because of the line laying against the fork leg. So for no issue. So I did the XS2 with the 73 front end the same way. They don't look too bad and so far so good on all of them. Just different ways to skin cat.

You do good work!
Can't get by wit nutt'n round here, eh?
Did run it through that gauge mount guide.
I have it in a rubber clamp at the back of the fender bracket
missed putting on that back of the lower triple guide til I already had the line on and bled.
This fender didn't have a hole or the guide loop.
That other brake line I found would work better but I may not have the chance to swap it. :yikes:

I guess I missed that you bent the guide down to put it through. My bad.
The fender does not have a hole for the holder on the fork leg. It's on the fork leg.

Had a buyer, but a carb started leaking so pulled the ads. After several on offs found a good (hot water dip tested) float installed and set and that bugaboo is fixed. chasing some drips, installed a new clutch push rod seal. But think the old low restriction dual tube crank breather is part of the issue. May install a reed valve in one tube and cap off the other. Going through and catching, fixing some other niggles, wants turn signals installed, muffler change. If it doesn't move on, It may start begging @Jim for a slot in the KC production line. Still needs that front brake line (second) swap. sigh.

Funny; I set the valves as part of the wake up, they were all pretty close when I started.
Now this is the quietest XS650 I've ever ever heard run. Zero valve "clatter".
(it was quiet, TOO quiet?) That can't be right.
So add set valves again to the list.
points, advance shaft, etc also.
Mia culpa During the original round of get r running I just hit the points area with carb cleaner and dragged a piece of white paper through both sets. It's kind of amazing how well it's running. Idling smooth and rock steady at 1K.

I know on my XS2, those breather hoses used to blow a lot of oil out of them, enough that it kept me busy with a rag to keep the undercarriage dry. You might recall I epoxied a couple small machine nuts inside the outlets to reduce the output. This only reduced it to the same size as the later model breathers that had those rubber restricted plugs in them.
