I’m in the middle of installing my HHB kit. I’ll be running a battery and want to have electric ignition.

I understand the diagrams included with the install instructions but do not see how the starter wires in.

Do I need a solenoid as well as the relay?

Can someone point me to a diagram or a thread that sheds some light on this? I have searched but can’t find anything relating to the starter.

I’ve wired vehicles myself but for some reason this bike had me scratching my head.

Thank you Signal, I spent the last couple of days reading through all 43 pages of that thread.

I did pick up a lot of information in regards to wiring my lights, signals, brakes, etc.

I didn't see anything on that thread specifically related to my question, though.

HHB has a relay included in the kit. I am not sure how the xs650 starter solenoid and starter are configured into my wiring. I do see where the starter and solenoid wire up in the standard set up and even with other custom set ups. I am just confused about the additional relay in HHB kit.

What do HHB say the purpose of that relay is? It might have nothing to do with electric start.

The relay is to ground the ignition box when you shut it off. Nothing to do with the starter.

No personal experience here but everything I've read about HHB customer service has been excellent. I would consider contacting them directly with your questions. Have fun.
