I saw a photo this morning that jogged an old memory loose. A photo of a chrome plated revolver. When I was a kid and me and the other boys in my neighborhood were playing cops and robbers, I was the one carrying a real gun…….

Let me back up a little.
This was in the early 60’s, my dad was a hobbyist gunsmith and we had a lot of guns in the house. I already owned a shotgun and a .22 rifle as a kid and I used to go hunting and target shooting with my dad. But this very real pistol was in my toy box. My dad had deemed it to be junk and had removed the firing pin and gave it to me to play with!
Can you imaging the reaction that something like this would cause today? Looking back it probably wasn’t very wise to do. This didn’t take place on a farm , I was a city kid!
