I've got a line on a 1972 XS2 that I think looks pretty darn complete. I'm tempted to give it a chance on life again.

I just bought it. Also got a mint 82 Heritage Special and an enclosed trailer to haul em home in

Those are not the original gauges, so mileage is unknown.
It's unfortunate that it's missing the left side cover -- the left cover is a bit rare and pricey.

The price was a great price! That's good to know on the Gauges, I thought they were the originals Thanks for that info! I'll have to dig into what the originals looked like and see if I can find some. The guy I bought it from thinks that it did come with the cover when he bought it 32 years ago and he's gonna keep looking. I do hope he finds it because I have found what you are saying to also be true, the left side covers are harder to find. The exhaust is not right either so I have a lot of digging to do but for this one I'm not in any kind of hurry.

Note what the cup and back look like. No other bikes had gauges like this. You might just want to keep what you've got for a while.

I agree. I think what I have is what is shown in this listing which according to this seller is AT or a CT eBay link
No joy on the orphaned left side. Musta already let it go.
I do have a "pair" though. Off an XS2 so color will match (depending on years of sun fade) your tank and other red bits. Both could be cleaned up and presentable. Luckily, the left is in the better shape. Basically undamaged metal and paint has a few scratches.
I'll let these go as a set.

Here's the Trailer. It's in really good shape!
Here's the two bikes that I got along with the trailer. I'm going to get the Heritage going 1st. It needs the least amount of work and I plan on most likely selling it come spring time next year. I'm gonna try to get the XS2 fired before the winter so I know how deep I'll have to go into the rehab.
