I think this 1972 XS2 has potential

Thinking out loud
The front tube straighten perhaps
making a hardwood half round block or something .maybe rags .protecting the surface ..And a 2 man job One holding and one sledge hammer operator on the wood
If no press.
Rolling it over a glass surface checking

There are firms doing it but looks expensive
I thought about straightening them and but there was some pitting as well so I opted for a new set.

Making some progress. I've got the back wheel all cleaned up and all new bearings and seals and brake pads installed. The spokes cleaned up really nice and the I'll give the rim chrome a 7 out of 10. The picture of the rear tire looks to have a date code of 1978.
I also got my top end back from the machine shop today and the top end was in great shape. They cleaned everything up, slightly milled the head, honed the cylinders and as soon as I get gaskets I'll be ready to start re-assembly of the motor.

Before 2000 the date codes were 3 digit ie 47th week of 1998. (or 1988 or 1978....)

Still well beyond it's use by date.
sez the guy been buelling around on a 93 with it's original front tire. :cautious:

PS Home brew rust dissolver that WORKS! https://www.xs650.com/threads/tank-prep.68211/post-879161

Powder Coating done! It’s like Christmas all over again!

Very nice! That really is fun, now things can start going back together again! I hope you were smarter than I was, and remembered to remove your steering lock before sending it to get powder coated. I melted my lock! 😄
