They can truly be overbearing. Unfortunately, it’s been 3 years since I went through this and no longer have the validating paper work I sent them. That said, I believe it only applied to 78 and 79 bikes. The rules changed for 1980 and later.

if you are still on this Forum, I of course still have the bike. She remains clean as can be and I am still thrilled riding her. Recently had her professionally detailed and plan on new tires and a full service in February.View attachment 257537

I'm still on the forum daily. The 650 looks brand new and the grab bar looks great. Every time I see her I get sellers remorse. Glad you are enjoying the bike. How many miles now?
