If removing the electric start do you need the bendix gears?

The XS kick start goes through the clutch and primary drive, so all starter motor drive components can be removed, should you want that.
Just be aware that the XS kickstart is a bit awkward, since it requires the gearbox to be in neutral and the clutch engaged. So if you stall the engine in 1st or 2nd gear, for example, you will first need to select neutral, kick start it, then pull the clutch and select 1st gear again.
Other bikes, like Yamaha RD models, have a kickstarter that can be used when any gear is selected, you just need to.pull the clutch first. A so-called primary kickstarter, much more convenient than the XS setup

Also has anyone used the mikexs plug for the starter delete? Do I need a gasket for it like the old one or do I use sealer? Not exactly sure on how it plugs up. It's got 2 screws in pic but looks like it only uses one screw. Or should I just buy a plug some where and use sealer. I saw a plug for only 4 bucks but then shipping.

Well about kick start in neutral I want a be safe. I'm gonna do Hughes hand built cdi so it might delete all that neutral stuff. Not sure though how it works if it hooks up to neutral or not.

Well bike came with starter in pieces and some gears already deleted so that's why I'm gonna try kick only. Thanks for helping me

The GEARBOX needs to be in neutral for kickstarting, either you have a neutral lamp or not.
With no neutral lamp, you will have to rock the bike fore/ aft to determine if it actually is in neutral, instead of just looking for that green light.
Even more awkward.....

I bought a plug from Pandemonium and i seem to recall putting a thin layer of sealant on it, but it was probably unnecessary- it was a very tight fit requiring multiple go's with a mallet. No leaks.
