ignition/ charging system missing.

Hey Y'all, i just picked up a '81 xs650 engine for a hardtail project I'm slowly working on. got it for a steal, but unfortunately its missing the charging system. literally just an empty shaft with a nut on it on the left side of the engine. i was looking on mikes xs and the pma says will work for 80 to 84 with aftermarket ignition. far as i know this engine was stock b4 i got it. this is my first xs, and the first time I've been internal motorcycle work.

I'm going for a battery less build. i just not sure what to buy. any help to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Can't recommend the Mike's PMA or their ignition, especially if you want to run a capacitor. I Do recommend Hugh's Handbuilt PMA w/CDI for capacitor builds.
