The guy who was the leader of the crew that created the Chemcam on the Mars Rover ( https://mars.nasa.gov/msl/spacecraft/instruments/chemcam/ ) was a member of my church when I worked at Los Alamos National Lab. Roger Weins ( https://www.eaps.purdue.edu/people/profile/rwiens.html )led the team and had a bumpersticker on his car that said, "My other cars zaps rocks on Mars with a lazer".

Day late on this, but:

I love February because it contains two of my favorite annual events Groundhog Day, and the State of the Union Address.

One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a notoriously unreliable mammal for prognostication with no basis in reality. The other involves a groundhog.
