If not please delete with my apologies!

If such a question is permitted, how much would a 1977 xs650 Standard with 35K miles, not running, needing supplied carbs installed, be worth in your neck of the woods?

I see that the original spoked front wheel has been replaced.

Can't give a price from here................Questions that cross my mind. Why the change of front wheel. Was it in an accident, would check for a bent triple. 35,000 mile, looking at a cam chain replacement........... If not now then get it done before a breakdown, the rotor is on it's used by date.

Twin disk upgrade, some complain about to much unsprung weight but at least the MC is the right size

I don't think a 2nd disc is really needed on these. The single disc stops fine with a few mods (stainless line, drilled disc, good pads). And it can be made even better with a slightly smaller MC.

The '77 Standard is a very desirable model. I'd gladly give $800 to $1000 for that, but I'm cheap, lol. I have both a Standard and a Special now, and the Standard just rides nicer I think. There's nothing really wrong with the Special, the Standard is just a little nicer all around. With 35K on the clock, it most likely needs a new front cam chain guide, but these all pretty much do. It's not really a mileage thing but rather due to their age. But, you could use that to try and talk the guy down a bit on his price.

Asking $1500 Cdn, lots of interest from others so no chance of negotiating
I'd say that the $1500 is a little high but still a fair price here (I'm in Montreal). This assumes that it has paperwork, is currently plated and is essentially roadworthy. Here in QC, the currently plated bit is important, as the inspection process can be a PITA. If the bike needs engine work, tires, chain and sprockets and so on just to be roadworthy, you need to take that into consideration.

"Lots of interest" often translates to an army of keyboard warriors that are largely full of hot air. When you're the only one that actually goes to see the bike, cash in hand and ready to make a deal, you might be surprised! Good luck!

Hoping to see it tomorrow.

Currently in the local marketplace there are 3 other complete xs650s. $2500, 2800, and 5000. The last one being collector grade, restored by retired Yamaha mechanic.

Brought it home today for $1000. 1977 Standard needing love. I'm done now!

Bought not running, no battery, carbs have new floats but not attached, slight rip in seat, good but old tires, original airboxes need new foam.

Sissy bar. crash bars will be removed, Special handlebar will be replaced with normal handlebars. Will eventually find a spoked front wheel.
