They used to knurl valve guides also, to bring them back into specs. Ah the good ol' days.
My TIG welder just shot craps. More correctly, it just turned itself into a light duty "scratch start" TIG. It's usable, but it'll only crank out about 40A. Not much you can do with that little power. Fuck me... 
Called their tech support (AHP Welders). Their support is world famous, btw. Mark didn't disappoint... he shot it down to the soft start relay on the capacitor board in short order, which agrees with what I gathered reading through some welding forums.
Unfortunately, AHP only carries replacement parts for 10 yrs after the last one leaves the factory. Just looked and I bought this one in July of 2014.... 12 yrs ago.... the last year for this particular model. I've since scoured the interwebs and nothing, zilch... nada for spare parts. Fuck me.
I use the damn thing at least a few times a week. I suppose I can't complain about 12 yrs faithful service... yet here I am... complaining. Go figure.

I too feel your frustration, but unrelated to my TIG machine.
Wife and I bought a new Jeep Renegade in 2021, just over 5 years ago. Bought an extended warranty.
Radio screen went to shit a year or so ago. Replaced it under warranty.
Screen went out for the second time last month. Took it to the dealership, service tech informs us that Jeep is only legally required to produce spare parts for 5 years after the date of manufacture.
Not to say that there aren't still new screens in a warehouse somewhere, but that is to say that they (the dealership) can't just call a place up and order a new one as easy as they could have a year ago. They even advised us that the screen is known to be garbage and we're probably better off replacing it with something from Best Buy.
The extended warranty company (which we now realize is a sham) will pay for a NOS screen (if by some odd chance the dealership can locate one) or a new-to-us used screen. After we pay a deductible... UH-gain...
So basically we can wait eons for the dealer to find a needle in a warehouse of hay, we can find a used screen that is probably equally as garbage as ours, or we can get an aftermarket reciever unit installed.
Between that and the transmission doing hard shifts for years, I've sworn off American cars.

Per the tech rep, it's an electronic relay. The board is the relay. No signs of burnt components or cold solder joints. Dunno... may have met my match here.um.. a relay is going to stop you
New one is actually $50 cheaper than this one was... plus it's got a water hookup.
Don't feel bad, miller, lincoln and other brands are the same way. Dang they shortened it to 5yrs? I thought most were doing 10yrs. All the more reason to avoid CJDR products.
I share your frustration... I still run an old Linde MIG welder with a failed component on an unsupported board that requires one to activate the trigger to weld and re-activate the trigger to stop. Yeah what pisses me off is we were talked into an extended warranty that is up 2 years AFTER they've stopped making parts.

Now that I have a few hours with it, I have to say a water cooled torch for TIG is a need, not a want. I just spent the better part of an hour welding at 100a DC and the torch never got hot. The tungsten lasted way better too, only had to regrind it because I'm not the greatest welder.
I'm using a yeswelder wp20 torch that came with the hoses and cover for about $70, had to get an adapter for the protig it's a ckworldwide slwhat-35m about $90, and the chiller is an amazon special for $216. Very worth the cost.
