I worked a good bit in Kuwait up until 11 years ago. The way Kuwaitis treat her does not surprise me. They are very welcoming and friendly people. My experiences with people there were all positive with Kuwaitis and guest workers alike.

Not gullible or misinformed, just behind the times. When I was over in that part of the world, we didn't let the girls go into town by themselves 'cause they'd get treated badly.
In a grocery store once... the owner wouldn't check out one of my girls. She put her stuff on the counter, the owner reached around her, taking the basket from the guy behind her.
The second time he did it, I grabbed the guys basket and politely handed it back to him, turned to the owner, un-holstered my sidearm, rested it on the counter..... and just glared at him (there's a language barrier... but "wrong end of the barrel" is universally understood). He checked her out. Wouldn't look her in the eyes, but he rung her up and took her money.
That wasn't a one off.... happened all the time when we first got there. That was well over 30yrs ago. Times (and cultures) have definitely changed in that time.... for the better.
 
I’m posting this, just as a sidebar, that goes to the dangers of traveling in Iran. Deciding to go into Iran despite warnings this British couple was arrested sometime in January and their whereabouts were just recently disclosed. Iran has a history of arresting foreigners on trumped up security charges and them holding them for bargaining chips in some future negotiations.

Mrs Foreman, a life coach with a doctorate in psychology, and Mr Foreman, a carpenter, were planning on reaching Australia, but were detained last month after they crossed into Iran from Armenia.

Now, their family says they are in a “distressing situation” and are working with the Foreign Office to secure their release.

The couple, in their early 50s, have been documenting their travels on social media.

Mrs Foreman said she was “having an amazing time” in Iran while Mr Foreman described “lovely people” in a “lovely country”.

My father was arrested by SAVAK in 1970, sent to a prison just north of Tehran and never heard from again. This was in friendlier times when the Shah ruled the Country, it’s even worse now.
Noraly has been there twice now, as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan, she either has horseshoes up her ass, a guardian angel or just plan naivety.
I pray for the Foreman’s.
 
Some dodgy things going on putting innocent people at risk
There was a Swede on " Vacation " in Iran former UN Employee and Homosexual
Not perfect in a Muslim Country .And this being a Conflict region .He probably was under surveillance all the time
Who would not do that ..

Got arrested trying to leave the Country at the airport .-No one really believed the Story about vacation in Iran that time of the year.
I have never heard of anyone else going there on vacation Conflict region .. . Sure there are ski resorts and can be a nice place
but there is reputedly strict dress codes and so. And Israeli Rockets now and then
So of course the Iranians would wonder about the " Vacation " Suspecting a mission of some sort ..

There are other Swedish citizens arrested that sits in jail :but this one was ..traded exchanged against one Iranian Torturer Sweden had arrested intention to Prosecute. A Hero in Teherans mind but a criminal in others
It was a bad guy .they sent home and got the homosexual vacationer home It did not add up the story.
It is dangerous it is a big nation and they are hard as nails ( or was )
They cleared mines at the Irak war marching troop right in - There are much better places for vacation.

Been trouble in the region longer than I have lived Dangerous Iran and Turkey is big .. nations Turkey have the worlds fifth larges army I believe.

She can’t see the bottom. Too easy to take a spill. Then the bike is submerged, and all her stuff gets wet. It isn’t worth it and good judgment on her part.

If I woke up in her boots, I would choose the same course. She’s in Yemen. The U.S. is currently dropping bombs on Yemen. She must at least allow the dust to settle. The current situation presents an obvious problem.
 
She decided to visit a war torn country that is only half governed (by a rebel militia), where planes can only maybe fly in and out. Maybe the US would detain her? In Canada she would be a hero although I have always questioned her judgment.

A little while back, I announced that I would be coming to the USA for the launch of my book “Free Ride” on the 3rd of June

. A lot of planning already happened, venues contacted and fun stuff arranged - but now, I am so disappointed to tell you that I won’t be able to come to the USA

. I have a valid, 10-year visa that I was planning to use, but the US immigration authorities are now reviewing social media activity for content deemed to undermine the US foreign policy. Visas are being stripped from people on a daily basis now and several europeans have been detained for weeks and then deported.

Given my recent travels and content in the Middle East and especially Yemen, I run the risk of having the same happening to me. I never thought I would say this, but it doesn’t feel safe to travel to the US right now. If you’ve followed me for a while, then you know, I don’t back down easily and don’t shy away from a little risk. But the risk of being detained and deported could mean a decade long ban on entering the US, and having “Deported from USA” in my passport could jeopardize visa applications for other countries too.

On top of that, so much work, effort and money goes into planning a booktour that having to cancel it one day prior because I’m detained at the border is just not an option.

I was looking forward to meeting so many of you in the US and I’m gutted it’s not going to happen now

It is different
Saudi Arabia women was not allowed to drive back then someone figured out A Midwife It can be time critical
It helps if she has a Car .And drivers License.

" Not possible her Brother Ali can Drive "

And someone said -- Ali can be at the horse races or someplace else it can take 3 hours before he is found .What if it the rulers first son and the time delay makes live be lost ..

Reason prevailed -- OK Give her a Drivers License
Then someone asked she will be stopped .A woman driver never ever before seen she will be arrested

Thinking again scratching heads ..OK there needs to be some markings on the car and signs And the police force need to get the information

Then someones said How are we going to solve the drivers license women here from good families are not handing over documents with exposed faces
And furthermore should someone stop her demanding tearing of the Veil off honorable women for identification control in town She is not gonna do that
And if the policeman tear it off the family comes with the Kalashnikov Assault Rifle that is a big NoNo --- No one is dumb enough to do that

OK She gets a drivers license -- On the picture she has the veil, On ---And markings on the car :-- No tearing of veils
The police gets the information about the vehicle One off situation.
 
She has kind of pigeon holed herself on this one, when I was a kid we would go to extremes not to get an Amsterdam stamp on our passports, one look at her stamps and any non 3rd world Country would at least question her ambitions, honestly do you think those guys in Yemen that she was hanging around with where not some sort of warlords?
