and car drivers aren't up to speed with that yet - not that they ever are.

Passed an accident scene on the way to town this afternoon, plastic all over the road, bike in the ditch, Lifeflight helo inbound.

Word is that the biker broke both legs, not sure what he hit (or hit him). Also that they Lifeflighted two victims, not sure if other driver or passenger on the bike.

Bike didn't look too messed up.

I'm curious if it was a "sporty" bike...
 
I coulda put money down on that. I've never seen a big dude on a big Harley passing in a double yellow. But around here I see guys with helmets on their "sporty" bike acting fools. Lanesplitting, weaving, pretending they're on the track.
 
I’ve certified hundreds of riders for licensing and I emphasis braking and keeping your head on a swivel more than any other skill. One example I use is if you’re riding next to a picket fence and you look over it’s a blur but if you look ahead you can count the each picket. That’s the difference in time for perception which can keep you from dying.
