Back story: Dale the Builder is moving out of the barn he's used as a warehouse/tool shed/office/dump for something like 25 years. Neatness and organization are NOT salient factors in Dale's operation. The barn is chockablock full of lumber, hardware, tools - derelict and otherwise - paint, flashing, and pretty much anything else related to building.

His crew is cleaning it out and a LOT of stuff is ending up in the dumpster. So far I've "rescued" a Makita bench-top table saw (runs fine after replacing the power cord and motor brushes) a Homelite leaf blower (runs fine after replacing rotted fuel lines) and talked Dale into giving me this:

Jet 10" contractor saw. Good mechanically but has set in an unheated barn with no protection for who knows how long and is a rusty mess. I don't need it, but my younger grandson is getting into woodworking on a fairly serious scale and can make good use of it.

Tore it completely apart, ran everything but the saw carriage and the motor through the electrolysis bath, scraped, sanded, primed and painted everything except the table. Cleaned and lubed everything on the carriage (raise and tilt mechanisms particularly) and checked all the bearings.

Spent a considerable amount of time de-rusting and refinishing the table: Wire brush, electrolysis, Evapo-rust, coarse rubbing compound and a buffer and finished with a good coat of paste wax. Still some staining and pitting, but slicker'n a school marm's ass otherwise. Did have to take a file and dress up the miter gauge slots a bit.

Finished reassembling it this afternoon, test drove it. Works fine. Needs a miter gauge but it's a generic 3/8 x 3/4 slot so pretty much anything will work. Has a REALLY nice Biesemeyer fence. Too bad that won't work on MY saw.

So now it looks like this.
