JesseeS Build Thread

Thanks guys! Looking forward to starting to wire it up. Also, quick life update, I finished my apprenticeship schooling last April but wasn't finished my hours yet. Well, as of yesterday, I passed my license test and am officially a Journeyman!
Congrats on the card. Are you gonna make me page back through to figure out what trade?

Of course not haha. I am a Pipefitter, primarily being a welder for the past year or so
Stick with it Jessee. I taught my son how to weld when he was about 9 or 10. Within weeks he was better than me at it.
Anyway... he worked his way up the ranks of the Iron Workers Union for about 20-25 yrs now and he's pullin' down about 250k a year. Stick with it dude!!

Congratulations!
Former certified welder here, I spent a year welding pipe, I worked hand in hand with a pipe fitter. He used to work ahead of me routing pipe and setting up joints. I followed along and just burned rod for eight hours a day.
( 21 year old me 😄 )

Congrats!!!
That is a lucrative trade. You will do well:D

Did some work on my electrical bracket. It was long so I trimmed it, then remembered I made it long so I could add rear brackets. So I mounted up the front and am just going to reuse an old bracket tab I had from earlier. Another "nice going idiot" moment. Found a battery "box" I'm going to mount to the bottom of the electrical pan, should be here soon. Other than that I've been tidying up odds and ends. Bought a license plate bracket for a xsr700 and after a little trimming it's like it was made for my bike. Mounted the m lock sensor on my rear brake. I think I'm going to mount the solenoid on my rear most hoop bracket as thats about the only spot I have room left. Once I get everything mounted where I want it, I'm going to temp install all the wiring to make sure everything works, then once I confirm it does I'll tidy it all up and gents, I'll be done! One thing I did notice was my rear shocks. The mount I had to weld on the frame is definitely longer than original, so I'm left with a gap on each side. If anyone has a lathe and some free time please let me know as I need some spacers made and would rather give one of you folks the money instead!

Ace Hardware stores have a fantastic selection of hardware, including metric, stainless, socket-head, and whatnot. If I'm not mistaken, there is also a large assortment of different spacers available. Check it out... if you were a little closer, I'd gladly spin you up some spacers, but we have an international border to contend with!

Bit of an update. Got the input side wired up!! I ordered the m button to make wiring a little more simple, unfortunately, it never worked. Im not sure if it never worked from the get go, if it was getting interference or what, but I had to scrap all the wiring I did and basically start from scratch and wire the input side independently. That said after redoing all the wiring, I turned the bike on with the m lock, hit the buttons and they all registered at the m unit. Even got the motor to start cranking! Although I will need a new battery, naturally. I've been working about 50+ a week now, so progress is slow going but by God I'll have this bike out for a fall ride if it's the last thing I do. All that's left is the output side of the wiring and some tidying up of wires and fingers crossed my next post will be a video of my ugly mug starting it up.

Pity to leave out the M-Button; it worked a treat on Taffy and cut out a lot of trailing wires around the frame from the bars.
Nice to see you still at it JesseeS; its a slog sometimes but will be worthwhile in the end.

I was really hoping it would work, but I have less than a little bit of electrical knowledge, and this motogadget stuff is way beyond what I consider "normal". Once I bypassed it and it worked I said forget it.
