This is going to be a fairly long post, as now that the bike is built I can really look and decide at the direction it’s going in.
Step 1 is after I get back from my honeymoon I’m going to look into getting the bike on the dyno. This is more to satisfy my own curiosity than anything else. I would like this bike to be a streetable hot rod motor.
The mods I have planned in no particular order:
- hidden hydraulic clutch
- replace bs34s with vm34s
- ported head with matched manifolds
- new valve springs
- either a shell #1 cam or megacycle cam
- replace transmission or undercut gears/5th gear overdrive
- balance and weld crank with new rods
- racing deep sump
- remote oil filter
- plumb side cover for remote oil filter and cooler
-plumb for oil temp gauge
I have Craig weeks performance guide and am reading through that. One thing I am going to try and do myself is make my own stepped up headers. I feel that would be a fun project. As far as the deep sump I said in one of my posts how when I put the new oil in it felt clunkier/harder to rev fast. I don’t believe it’s because of the oil weight now. At the time I had an oil leak and my bike was low on oil. This I’m sure allowed the crank to spin more freely. As an aside I have a couple of heads, a cam, a crank and cases in my parts pile. This will allow me to have everything built while still being able to run my bike as is. I’m also going to have the spare cases vapor blasted so it can actually look nice as well. This is the long game and I’m positive it will take me a while to get there, but I look forward to seeing what this does. No HP or TQ goals per se, but if I can get this bike to have a reliable 65-70 I’ll be more than happy. Hell I’m happy now but you know we can’t leave well enough alone
