Update:
Thanks to
@gggGary and his van she went to the Ozarks, me too. I'll list the good, the bad and the future.
The good:
Everyone seemed to like it's looks. Also a lot of comments on the subtle differences between it and a stock XS2.
Motor ran great! Very responsive. Ran it up to 90+ a couple of times and never had it more than 3/4 open. Went for 70 to 90 with no hesitations. Started ok, I could tell it's a 750 with a little more than stock compression when e-starting it. Have not tried to kick start it yet as I like my right knee and ankle as they are.
Kind on the fence on the gearing. Right now it's 17/34 thinking about 17/32. I'll probably leave as is for awhile.
No oil leaks.
8 plate Alto clutch worked great.
Couple of carb things I'll list later.
Suspension was ok. Front forks work well but could use a little heavier oil for spirited riding. As they are very good for sedate riding. They are just stock 73 forks with progressive springs and a little moding on he dampers.
Rear shocks are stock XS2 shocks. Worked fine on the smooth roads there. Here in IL they leave something to be desired.
Front brakes works great. Dual early discs are pretty darn good. Good feel but not overpowering.
The frame seemed to me better than my other XS2. Ran it up to 90+ a couple of times. Solid as a rock, no hint of a webble or a wobble. Not sure if it's because of the reinforcing I did on it or the fact the frame had not been broke in 2 places and cracked in 4 other places.
Very happy with the tires. Nice feel to them in the corners.
All lights worked the whole time.
The bad:
Carbs need some work. Fuel mileage kinda sucked. Low 40s. Plugs on the rich side. I knew that before I went but I would rather be rich than lean. Left carb would run over when on side stand if I didn't shut off the petcocks.
Rear brakes sucked! I screwed up and got a cheap set.
The seat was the worst thing. Looks great butt not at all comfortable. I also forgot my AirHawk. The first day I was going to head back after the second stop. Then I heard
@OHRider say he was taking off his AirHawk as it was too small for is BMr. He let me borrow it for the weekend. Saved my ass. It solved the burn and pain problem butt then a new to me problem started. Things down south would go numb after 30 miles. All I needed to do was get off and walk around for a minuet or 2. Then all was good.
The future:
Pop the carbs off and drop the needles a notch. Also check the float heights.
Replace the rear bake shoes with EBC shoes I just received.
I got a AirHawk a little different style than what Al loaned me and see if I can make it work for more than 30 smiles at a time.
Cosmetics a few thing in the future.
