I have noticed on many bike forum's.
Many people ask for help & advice,
Which is generously given. However, I find it frustrating that the OP just goes quiet once the problem is solved. Without revealing to others what actually cured the problem. So we could all benefit.
Let us know what it was/wasn't.
Like I said. Just my thoughts 🤔
Regards to all.
Sean.

Some people are not used to getting help by friends --at all -are more into the I pay for a Service mindset
It is different personalities.
There have been some here on the Forum Acting as Military Officers giving orders do this and do that
do it now ---and it did not work people signed off --- Was told do it yourself

others have focus on the current problem once solved .The move on forgetting the last one.

Sometimes it can be embarrassment missing a simple thing or not getting the bike together

There is a lot of expectations a problem will b solved by the forum.

No intro about themselves, the bike, what has been done, symptoms........except " the bike stopped what's wrong with it" and they expect the problem to b solved.
Getting 3or4 questions on different components trying to get a handle, (diagnose),. From the OP can lead to solutions in different directions.
Often the OP gets an idea in their head then dismiss other possibilities untill several pages of back and forth questions and answers, days and pages later.

Gets to the point where it is easy to read those people. I drop out, haven't the patience.

I worked with a younger kid, mid-20's. He would ask for my help machining something. So I'd give him advice...

And he would completely ignore my advice and try shit his way. A gross waste of my time.

Did the same thing with the other CNC programmer.

After about the 3rd time he did that shit I told him don't waste my fucking time asking for my help that he's just going to end up ignoring anyways. Told him I'm not giving him advice any more and if that's a problem then go tell the shop foreman.

He doesn't work there anymore.

Slightly off topic but highly related.

Sometimes people ask for help when they already know they're just gonna do shit their own way in the end anyways.

I can relate... I have a few in-laws that do this. I was very excited to hear there is a term for this irritating behavior...

Askhole - A person who constantly asks for your advice, yet ALWAYS does the complete opposite of what you told them to do.
