Better hope for some damn good battery monitoring.
As my dear ol' daddy used to say "Bet you couldn't have driven a needle up his ass with a ten pound sledge hammer"Remember on here a short while back discussing how Radials sometimes periodically lose their shit?!![]()

I have a stealth motor cycle, but I ran out of paint before the front got done.If you ever visit the Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California, they have a very cool stealth plane display... You have to see it with your own eyes... View attachment 357842
Reminds me of a day coming to shop and noticed a flat black vega v8 at the curb.
Looking over it, the owner said do you like it?
Oh yes! What color are you paint it?
He said this is final coat.
Matte black spotchy typical rattlecan primer looked horrible.
He said it's radar absorbing paint from the air force.
$1000 quart back in the mid '90's!
He said he was a sgt. at nellis afb before retirement.
Cheeky!
anyone know of this paint(radar adsorbing/dispersal)?
only defense against the instant on radar coming on strong back then

Thank you sir.He was pulling your leg.
I worked on those aircraft extensively for 13 years...the paint didn't do anything except visually hide it at night.
The Radar Absorbent Material (RAM) underneath the paint was the true final touch to add to the "Hopeless Diamond" shape of the aircraft....those shapes are where most of the magic happened.
I could tell stories about it for hours but you know the old saying..."If I told you, I'd have to kill you!".![]()
Thank you sir.

Wasn't that the type of plane that Glenn Miller was in when he went missing?Just got back from our flight. Interesting aircraft. Apparently it was originally designed to run without electricity so it ran on dual magneto’s and was a crank start. It didn’t like cold weather starting so at night when they shut it down they drained the oil while warm and took the oil indoors overnight. Starting the engine with room temperature oil was easier.
9 cylinder radial engine, apparently the same as the Harvard. 600+ hp. Aluminum frame with wood and fabric covering. She was an old clunker but a workhorse.
Took a few pics of several other aircraft and will post those later.
