Just out of curiosity - Airplane Guys

Not that many fabricating Jet engines ,Curios if there is an Quality differences
Rolls Royce / General Electric / Pratt & Whitney
And perhaps are more manufacturers
are there any known differences
Some need more maintenance and are more difficult work on or so

We all have our favorites. As a flight mechanic I favored the RR RB211 because I rarely had to touch it. The early RB211-22B, not so much. GE CF6 is probably what I’d buy if I were in charge of that and based upon the knowledge that I possess.

Thank you Sir
Anything known what one GE CF6 Costs ?
Been in Use a long time.
And what,is the normal service points on service I suppose Oil but anything else replaced per Schedule
Cost is not in my wheelhouse. My preference is based upon my experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician and almost all of that experience is in line maintenance. And now, spending enormous time in data analytics, I’m not learning anything contrary to my CF6 preferences.

I certainly can’t argue with that. I have lots of line maintenance experience with the 727 and MD80, DC-9 too. I guess that makes me pretty old. I believe JT8 production ended in the 1980s.

Had to look it up; Phantom first flew 1958, that's 68 years ago. Gulp!
And still in operational service with a few countries.
Spent about 5-6 yrs working 'em back in the 70's. Off the top of my head, I can't think of an airplane that was harder to work on.
